- 1 cup oatmeal
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup vanilla almond milk or any nondairy milk
- 1 to 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon and more for sprinkling
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1 large apple, peeled, cored, and cut into a 1/4-inch dice
- 2 tbsp walnuts, chopped
Place the oats, salt and water in a heavy bottomed saucepan and bring to a boil.
Add the chopped apples and half the almond milk. Stir well to mix.

When the oatmeal is smooth and very creamy, turn off the heat. Stir in the maple syrup and cinnamon and the remaining almond milk.
Ladle out into bowls, sprinkle on some more cinnamon and walnuts, Serve immediately.
